ecoLogicStudio's biodigital design tours Astana and Aarhus
Claudia Pasquero, co-founder of ecoLogicStudio with Marco Poletto, is having a landmark year in 2017. The London-based cross-media practice, active since 2006, specializes in biodigital and systemic design. Pasquero is participating in multiple events: at Expo 2017 Astana in Kazakhstan, ecoLogicStudio presents BIO.tech HUT, a prototype pavilion for algae cultivation and future living, featuring a smart shell of micro-perforated sheet metal and a complex tube system that demonstrates how to domesticate micro-organisms, turning carbon dioxide into oxygen and biomass into super-food and electricity. In Aarhus, Denmark, as part of Aarhus 2017 – European Capital of Culture, the studio installs Urban Algae Folly, the world's first living architecture integrating real-time digital micro-algae cultivation, and Aarhus Wet City, a new planning interface. Additionally, Pasquero is Head Curator of the Tallinn Architecture Biennale from September 13 to October 27, and has been named to the Wired Smart List 2017 Top 10. ecoLogicStudio's goal is to redefine the city as fertile ground for new agro-urban ecosystem synthesis practices.
