École de la SRF at Festival Côté Court de Pantin: Cross-Disciplinary Cinema

The Festival Côté Court de Pantin, known for its focus on experimental cinema and works by artists, partners with the Société des Réalisateurs de Films (SRF) for a day of discussions on June 2, 2016. The event, titled École de la SRF, explores how contemporary art practices disrupt narrative, form, and production in filmmaking. Morning sessions feature a conversation with filmmakers including Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Guy Maddin, Johanna Hadithomas, Khalil Joreige, Bertrand Mandico, and Christelle Lheureux, moderated by Jacky Evrard. Afternoon panels address alternative production and distribution pathways, moderated by Catherine Bizern, with filmmakers, producers, distributors, and historians. The SRF, founded June 14, 1968, defends artistic freedoms and organizes the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs at Cannes since 1969 and the Rencontres du moyen métrage de Brive since 2004. Co-presided by Catherine Corsini, Céline Sciamma, and Pierre Salvadori, it has over 300 members. The École de la SRF, launched in March 2014 at the initiative of Katell Quillévéré, aims to foster dialogue on economic, legal, artistic, and political issues, open to the public.
