EAV Parque Lage launches free training programs with monthly stipends
On April 19, the Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage opened applications for the third edition of its free training program, with a deadline of May 2. Two eight-month courses are offered, each with 15 spots. For the first time, participants will receive a monthly stipend of R$ 300. One course is designed for individuals new to the art field, requiring no prior experience, and will be pedagogically guided by Camilla Rocha Campos and Natália Nichols, culminating in a collective project. The second course targets artists with existing work, selecting participants through portfolio analysis and a form. It will conclude with an exhibition project under the guidance of professor Clarissa Diniz and curator Ulisses Carrilho. Director Yole Mendonça emphasized the program's aim to broaden access to art and culture through new perspectives and experiences. The 2021 curriculum was adapted for virtual mediums due to pandemic restrictions. Carrilho described the programs as seeking alternatives to fixed curricular structures, exploring adaptability and the art system's openness to new subjects and forms.
