Eastside Projects' Painting Show transforms gallery into immersive installation

The Painting Show at Eastside Projects in Birmingham, curated by Gavin Wade alongside Sophie von Hellermann, showcases the work of over 30 artists, such as Rob Pruitt, Nicolas Party, Tamuna Sirbiladze, R.H. Quaytman, Paul Thek, Imran Qureshi, Josh Smith, Richard Tuttle, and Rupert Norfolk. Von Hellermann has painted mobile wall panels designed by architect Adolf Krischanitz, while Party and Sirbiladze create murals on the permanent walls. The exhibition invites visitors to explore without a map, with Quaytman's silkscreen serving as a reference. Unique artworks include Tuttle's cardboard sculpture and Norfolk's enamel on a window blind. Founded in 2008 by Wade and others, Eastside remains an artist-run space, reflecting Wade's ongoing investigation into social and architectural themes.
