Earthscape Studio's Brick House: A Full-Scale Prototype in Sivakasi

Earthscape Studio, led by principal architect Petchimuthu Kennedy, has completed 'La historia de los ladrillos' (The Story of Bricks), a 380-square-foot house in Sivakasi, India, designed as a full-scale prototype. The project, curated by Miwa Negoro, serves as a real-scale model to test materials and construction techniques, embracing the possibility of error as part of the design process. The design team includes Sowmiya Arul, Kaviselvam, Alagumeenal Subbu, and Shridhar Selvaraj, with Muthukumar and team as general contractor. Photographs by Syam Sreesyalam document the project. The house exemplifies how architectural experiments can evolve into permanent homes, challenging the notion that prototypes are merely temporary.
