festival-fair · 2026-04-23

The 25th edition of the É Tudo Verdade documentary film festival runs from September 23 to October 4, presenting 60 feature, medium, and short films in competition and hors-concours. Originally scheduled for March, the event was postponed due to the pandemic and will now be held almost entirely digitally via streaming platforms, with free access. A special program curated with the SESC-SP Center for Research and Training will feature award-winning Brazilian feature films from previous festival editions, available on the SESC Digital platform from October 8 for 30 days. Films highlighted include 'Auto de Resistência' by Natasha Neri and Lula Carvalho, examining police homicides in Rio de Janeiro; 'Cidades Fantasmas' by Tyrell Spencer, exploring abandoned sites in Chile, Brazil, Colombia, and Argentina; 'O Futebol' by Sergio Oksman, a personal story around the 2014 World Cup; 'Homem Comum' by Carlos Nader, following a truck driver's family over two decades; 'Mataram Meu Irmão' by Cristiano Burlan, investigating a brother's murder in São Paulo's periphery; and 'Dois Tempos' by Dorrit Harazim and Arthur Fontes, revisiting a São Paulo family after 20 years. Winners from the 2020 festival's Brazilian and international competitions are automatically eligible for next year's Oscar consideration.
