Dyson V16 Piston Animal Submarine: Powerful but Pricey Stick Vacuum

Dyson has launched the V16 Piston Animal, its most powerful stick vacuum to date, with 315 air-watts (AW) of suction, surpassing the Gen5Detect's 262 AW. The V16 introduces the All Floor Cones Sense cleaner head that adapts to hard and soft floors within a second, and a Submarine variant adds a wet mopping head. The vacuum features Eco, Auto, and Boost modes, an LCD screen, built-in crevice tools, and a dust-compactor tool. A self-emptying docking station is due later this year at an additional cost. In testing, the V16 performed well overall but did not consistently outperform the older Gen5Detect or cheaper competitors like the Shark PowerDetect Speed ($280). The Submarine mopping head impressed, but the V16 Submarine costs $1,100. The V16 is recommended for those wanting the add-ons, but cheaper Dyson options exist for basic needs.
