Dylan Dog Turns 30 with Exhibition at Turin's Pinacoteca Albertina

exhibition · 2026-05-05

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, the comic series Dylan Dog, created by Tiziano Sclavi and first published on September 26, 1986, is being honored with an exhibition at the Pinacoteca Albertina in Turin. Curated by Fabrizio Accatino, vice director of Sottodiciotto Film Festival & Campus, the show features 200 rare original pieces, including plates, covers, sketches, character studies, commissioned works, and homages by guest artists such as Silver, Altan, Milo Manara, and Lorenzo Mattotti. These are displayed alongside Renaissance and Baroque paintings from the academy's historic collection. Highlights include original plates from the elusive first issue, L'alba dei morti viventi (October 1986), and the recent Mater Dolorosa, written by current editorial curator Roberto Recchioni and illustrated by Gigi Cavenago, who will debut as cover artist for the December issue Cose perdute (no. 363) with a cover by Angelo Stano. Throughout the exhibition, historic Dylan Dog artists will meet readers: Luigi Piccatto with Pasquale Ruju (November 22), Giampiero Casertano (December 2), Carlo Ambrosini (December 8), and a special White Night on December 10 when the museum stays open until midnight for an encounter with Nicola Mari. The exhibition runs from November 18 to December 13, 2016.
