Dutch duo Karski & Beyond to paint mural in Lecce's Stadio district

The 167 B Street urban art laboratory in Lecce's San Giovanni Battista neighborhood (also known as the Stadio district) won the call "Street Art – Italian and Dutch visual artists send a message together" with its project Artogether. The call was promoted by the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Dutch Consulate General in Milan. From August 14 to 21, Dutch street art duo Karski & Beyond will create a new mural on Via Ragusa in the Stadio district. The work will depict a pair of colorful birds symbolizing community and human care for others, reflecting on home and security. The Stadio district has hosted international street artists like Millo, Chekos' Art, Mantra, and Dimitris Taxis through the "167 Art project" by 167 B Street, supported by the parish community of San Giovanni Battista. Eight murals have been painted on public housing facades, contributing to urban regeneration. Ania Kitlas of 167 B Street stated that art can reach people's deepest sides and is a protagonist of change. Rita Miglietta, assessor for Urban Policies, said street art is imagination, poetry, and color aimed at regenerating the neighborhood's imaginary.
