Dune Magazine Launches as New Print Publication on Visual Culture
A new print magazine called Dune has launched, focusing on fashion, art, and visual culture. The 160-page journal is published by Gea Politi and Cristiano Seganfreddo of Flash Art, directed by Maria Luisa Frisa, and designed by Think Work Observe. The first issue explores the theme of Dark Room, promoting promiscuity of bodies and ideas amid social distancing. Dune originates from the academic context of Università Iuav di Venezia, where Frisa directs the Fashion Design and Multimedia Arts degree. The second issue, themed Manifesto, is already in preparation with an open call for papers. The project is supported by donors Nicoletta Fiorucci (Fiorucci Art Trust) and Matteo Mantellassi (Manteco). Dune aims to become a class A academic journal, emphasizing that academic writing can be engaging and transdisciplinary.
