DUMBO Open Studios 2026 Draws 175+ Artists Despite Rain and Rising Rents
On April 19, 2026, Brooklyn hosted the 10th annual DUMBO Open Studios, spanning 21 buildings and showcasing more than 175 artists. Cey Adams, a graphic designer and the founding creative director of Def Jam Recordings, produced a mixed-media collage in his studio on Jay Street. Although commercial rents have surged following Covid-19, many artists continue to thrive in the area. The event is organized by Team Dumbo in collaboration with Two Trees, which oversees four buildings and two residency programs for 29 artists. Ariel Willmott noted that over half of the artists surveyed reported making sales. Despite rain resulting in reduced attendance, enthusiasm remained high. Highlights included Dakota Gearhart's backdrop for 'Life Touching Life,' along with exhibitions by Tracy McKenna and the Center for Cuban Studies.
