Dropcity Convention 2023: Milan's Design Week Transforms Railway Tunnels
During the Milan Design Week 2023, the railway tunnels at the Magazzini Raccordati della Stazione Centrale, located along via Sammartini (38-60), were brought to life by Dropcity Convention. This initiative, designed by architect Andrea Caputo, offers a glimpse into the upcoming Dropcity center for architecture and design, set to launch in spring 2024. The event explored themes such as the interaction between history and modernity, as well as the concept of circularity through reuse. Among the highlighted exhibits were Daisuke Motogi's "Hackability of the Stool" in tunnel 56, "Flow" by Daisuke Yamamoto and Taketo Masui in tunnel 50, and RE;COLLECTIVE by RE;CODE in tunnel 44. MUDAC showcased projects like "Prepper's Pantry" and "The Last Pencil" in tunnel 50, under the new leadership of Beatrice Leanza.
