Droog Design's 30th Anniversary Exhibition at Triennale Milano
Triennale Milano hosts 'Droog30. Design or Not Design', a tribute to the Dutch collective Droog Design founded in 1993 by Renny Ramakers and Gijs Bakker. Curated by Maria Cristina Didero and Richard Hutten, a former member, the exhibition marks 30 years since Droog's international launch at Pastoe's showroom during Fuori Salone in Milan. Rather than a retrospective, it offers an immersive experience with a wallpaper made from crowd-sourced opinions via social media, plus 'Dry Interviews' by Didero and Francesca Molteni featuring founders and key figures. The show explores Droog's legacy of conceptual, ironic design that embraced self-production, limited editions, reuse, and low-tech craftsmanship, exemplified by Tejo Remy's Rag Chair and Marijn Van der Poll's Do It Chair. A 'Bring Your Own Droog' board invites public proposals for future products. The exhibition is in collaboration with Nieuwe Instituut Rotterdam.
