Drone Video Captures Olafur Eliasson's Waterfall Installation at Versailles
A black-and-white drone video documents the assembly of Olafur Eliasson's monumental artificial waterfall at the Palace of Versailles. The work, titled Waterfall (2016), was installed in June 2016 as part of a large site-specific exhibition featuring three outdoor installations exploring water in its liquid, solid, and gaseous states. The waterfall towers over the central avenue of the French royal gardens and will be visible for only a few more days. The video, shot in austere style, recalls Eliasson's 2008 waterfall in New York and draws inspiration from an unrealized project by André Le Nôtre, chief gardener to Louis XVI.
