Drone swarm dances at Mount Fuji in Sky Magic performance
Twenty-one quadcopter drones equipped with LED lights performed a synchronized audiovisual display at the foot of Mount Fuji. The drones, each enclosed in a dodecahedron frame, were controlled via a DMX512 decoder. The event was documented in the video 'Sky Magic,' directed by Shu Shinkawa and created by Tsuyoshi Takashiro with a team of specialists. The performance begins with a whispered countdown, after which the drones rise with a buzzing sound reminiscent of an insect swarm, playing on the double meaning of 'drone' (the male bee). Japanese guitar music then cues the drones' aerial dance, described as acrobatic, multicolor, and surreal.
