Dries Van Noten to Open Foundation in Venice's Palazzo Pisani Moretta in 2026

institutional · 2026-04-26

Former Belgian fashion designer Dries Van Noten, who retired in March 2024, purchased Palazzo Pisani Moretta on the Grand Canal in May 2025. The palace, a prime example of Venetian Gothic architecture built in the late 15th century, will house the Fondazione Dries Van Noten opening in April 2026, timed to the Venice Biennale. Conceived with partner Patrick Vangheluwe, the foundation aims to be a 'house for craftsmanship,' supporting artisans, designers, artists, and young talents through presentations, collaborative projects, residencies, satellite initiatives, and educational programs. Van Noten stated the foundation will create a living ecosystem connecting past, present, and future, giving visibility to craftsmanship in the digital age. The palace, renovated in the 18th century by Chiara Pisani in Rococo style and restored in the late 20th century, houses original works by Giambattista Tiepolo, Jacopo Guarana, Gaspare Diziani, and Giuseppe Angeli.
