Dreams Wins Golden Bear at 75th Berlinale

The 75th Berlin International Film Festival, the first edition under the leadership of Tricia Tuttle, concluded with the Golden Bear awarded to "Dreams," the final chapter of Dag Johan Haugerud's trilogy. The queer coming-of-age film follows a 17-year-old girl who falls in love with her French teacher, exploring generational dynamics when her mother and grandmother discover her writings. The jury, chaired by Todd Haynes, praised the film as "a meditation on love." "Dreams" will be released in Italian theaters on March 6 via Wanted Cinema. The Italian documentary "Canone effimero" by Gianluca and Massimiliano De Serio received a Special Mention in the Forum section for its exploration of oral tradition and ethnomusicology. Other major awards included the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize to "The Blue Trail" by Gabriel Mascaro, and Best Director to Huo Meng for "Living the Land." Tilda Swinton received an honorary Golden Bear for lifetime achievement.
