Dream Baby Press Hosts First London Reading in Boxing Gym with Erotic Fan Fiction and Elvis

Dream Baby Press held its first event in London at the All-Star Boxing Gym in west London, representing the publisher's debut reading outside of the U.S. The sold-out evening was organized by founder Matt Starr, a filmmaker and poet, and kicked off with an Elvis impersonator performing classic hits. The event featured readings from Mickey Down, who presented explicit Harry Potter fan fiction centered on Neville Longbottom; Emma Forrest, who shared a piece on accepting female aging; and Camille Charrière, who read from her upcoming memoir 'Ashamed'. Other contributors included Kate Nash, Tish Weinstock, Bertie Brandes, Amy Francombe, and Lea Ogunlami. Brandes revealed her book 'Problematic Faves', set for a 2027 release by Bloomsbury. Starr concluded the night with excerpts from his 2024 poetry collection 'Mouthful'. Launched in 2022, Dream Baby Press aims to make reading and writing enjoyable, accessible, and appealing, with the U.K. being its second-largest audience after the U.S. Previous events have taken place in unique locations, such as Peter Pan Donuts in New York and the oldest magic shop in the country, featuring past readers like Candace Bushnell and Jemima Kirke.
