Drawing Machine #5.2 unites 16 artists in Rome exhibition on painting and friendship
At the Fondazione Pastificio Cerere in Rome, there's a fascinating exhibition called 'Amici o pittori' that explores how friendship influences art. In 2022, Marco Emmanuele, the artist behind the show, invited sixteen other creators, including Marco Affaitati and Paolo Assenza, to his studio. They used a special tool he designed, the Drawing Machine #5.2, which has a long metal arm like a pantograph. The artists paired up, with one painting while the other emulated the machine's movements, leading to sixteen collaborative canvases that celebrate teamwork. Emmanuele drew inspiration from a family Christmas game involving drawing together. The exhibition, curated by Carolina Chiatto, takes place at Silos, Fondazione Pastificio Cerere.
