Dr. Pira's 'L'Almanacco de i Fumetti della Gleba' Collects Two Decades of Comics

Dr. Pira (Maurizio Piraccini, born 1977 in Tortona) has released 'L'Almanacco de i Fumetti della Gleba,' a 700-page collection published by Nero Magazine. The volume gathers nearly twenty years of his comics, including historical and unpublished works, plus contributions from critics like Achille Bonito Oliva, scientists who worked with ESA, a psychiatrist, and renowned cartoonists such as Manuele Fior, Paolo Bacilieri, and Adriano Carnevali. The book is available via a limited pre-order campaign (Prima o Mai by Ratigher) until July 15, after which it will never be reprinted. Dr. Pira, known for his absurdist, childlike drawing style, has been active on sites like Linus, XL Repubblica, and Vice, and has created covers for the album 'Il limite valicabile' by Uochi Toki. He also co-founded the Gruppo OK street art crew around 2001 with artists like 108, Dem, and Alfano. The almanac includes over 700 dense pages with 9 to 15 panels each, featuring recurring characters like Gatto Mondadory, Batma e Robi, Marguati, and Berutti. Editor Sara Sedehi helped organize the chaotic archive. Dr. Pira describes his creative process as receiving ideas from another space, comparing it to Wi-Fi, and states he now makes comics for sport rather than for himself or the audience.
