Dr Fake Cabinet Opens in Turin as 'Anti-Gallery' Space

A new art space called Dr Fake Cabinet is opening in Turin, born from the closure of Freaks Cabinet and GSF Contemporary Art. The initiative is led by artist Pablo Mesa Capella and collector Marco Albeltaro, who previously ran Freaks Cabinet inside GSF Contemporary Art's venue at Galleria San Federico. Dr Fake Cabinet is described as a 'space of revolt' and an 'anti-gallery' that challenges conventional museum practices. Its inaugural exhibition, running from December 16 to December 31, features 22 artists with a provocative, Frankenstein-like installation that builds piece by piece. Among the artists is Andrea Villa, known as the 'Banksy of Turin,' whose political satire posters appear on city streets. The space is temporarily located at Via San Francesco da Paola 12 in Turin's historic center, while Albeltaro searches for a larger permanent venue to host a main space, project room, and bookshop. The gallery targets collectors willing to move beyond conventional home decor art.
