Dr Alex George reveals suicidal thoughts in mental health video

Dr Alex George, former Love Island contestant and A&E doctor, revealed in a video for Mental Health Awareness Week that he contemplated suicide two years ago. He said he sat on his stairs and wanted to end his life, but decided to go for a run, which he credits with saving his life. After the run, his mood improved enough to call a friend for help. George, who lost his 19-year-old brother Llŷr to suicide in 2020, shared the story to reduce stigma around mental health. He told followers 'you are loved' and encouraged them to seek help. George appeared on Love Island in 2018 and became a UK government mental health ambassador in 2021.
