Douriean Fletcher's Afrofuturist Jewelry Exhibition at Walters Art Museum

The Walters Art Museum in Baltimore presents 'Douriean Fletcher: Jewelry of the Afrofuture,' featuring over 100 works by the self-taught artist known for creating jewelry for Marvel Studios' 'Black Panther' and 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.' The exhibition, which originated at New York's Museum of Arts and Design, includes cinematic pieces alongside personal works, sketches, prototypes, and historical objects from the Walters' permanent collection. Fletcher's designs, rooted in Afrofuturism, blend references to African traditions, ancient civilizations, architecture, and speculative design. The show highlights jewelry as a medium for cultural storytelling and identity, with newly created works debuting exclusively in Baltimore. Educational programming includes artist talks, tours, workshops, performances, and film screenings. The exhibition runs through August 9.
