Douglas Stuart to Read from 'John of John' in Berlin and Hamburg
Douglas Stuart, the Booker Prize-winning author, will present his third novel 'John of John' in Germany this September. The book, which has been nominated for the Booker Prize 2026, is considered a strong contender for book of the year. Stuart will hold two readings: on September 4 at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele in Berlin, and on September 5 at the Literaturhaus Hamburg. The novel follows Cal, who returns to the Hebrides after fleeing to Edinburgh, to confront his father John, a strict Presbyterian tweed weaver. The story explores themes of duty, delusion, love, shame, and the transformative power of truth.
