Douglas Gordon's Largest Exhibition Opens at Tel Aviv Museum
The Tel Aviv Museum of Art is showcasing 'I am also…Douglas Gordon', the most comprehensive exhibition focused on the Scottish artist, curated by Ami Barak. Spanning seven spaces, the exhibit delves into Gordon's identities and biography, prominently featuring the text piece 'pretty much every word written, spoken, heard, overheard from 1989' (2006) beneath a 27-meter-high light well. Key works on display include '30 Second Text' (1993), 'Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait' (2006), '24 Hour Psycho' (1993), 'Play Dead – Real Time' (2003), and 'Henry Rebel' (2011). The exhibition draws inspiration from Robert Louis Stevenson's 'Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde' (1886) and concludes with 'I Am also Hyde' (2011). It is open from January 25 to May 26, 2013.
