Dorsoduro Museum Mile launches guided tours led by museum directors in Venice

The Dorsoduro Museum Mile in Venice, a cultural route linking Gallerie dell'Accademia, Galleria di Palazzo Cini, Collezione Peggy Guggenheim, and Punta della Dogana, has launched a new cycle of free guided tours titled "Le guide del Miglio." The tours are conducted by the directors and curators of the participating institutions. Eight tours are scheduled for every Monday in June and September 2023 at 12:00, each focusing on the themes of light (June) and color (September). The initiative aims to offer visitors an intimate exploration of eight centuries of art history, from medieval and Renaissance masterpieces to contemporary works. Key figures involved include Karole P. B. Vail (director, Collezione Peggy Guggenheim), Luca Massimo Barbero (director of the Institute of Art History, Fondazione Giorgio Cini), Giulio Manieri Elia (director, Gallerie dell'Accademia), and Bruno Racine (director and CEO of Palazzo Grassi – Punta della Dogana). The first tour on June 5 features Giorgione's "The Tempest" at the Gallerie dell'Accademia, followed by sessions at the Collezione Peggy Guggenheim (June 12), Punta della Dogana (June 19), and Palazzo Cini (June 26). September tours cover the same venues in a different order. The Dorsoduro Museum Mile was founded in 2015 and includes mutual ticket discounts among the institutions.
