Doriano Navarra mounts Keith Haring exhibition at Saint-Tropez citadel, continuing his father's legacy

exhibition · 2026-04-23

Doriano Navarra, son of the late gallerist Enrico Navarra, organized a Keith Haring exhibition at the Citadelle de Saint-Tropez, open until November 15, 2021. This marks his first show as gallery director following his father's death in July 2020. The display features monumental painted steel sculptures from Haring's Pop Shop and other works, including Untitled (1989), S-Man (1987), and Untitled (Headstand) (1987-88), previously shown in Ramatuelle in 2005. Navarra assembled the presentation without funding in just four months after a municipal cancellation. He plans to reissue a 600-page Haring catalog with Spanish and Chinese editions, expanding its reach. Navarra aims to promote Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat globally through turnkey exhibitions, citing past shows in Cotonou, Havana, and Beijing. He is developing a virtual reality-enhanced website for the Villa Navarra, a Ductal concrete structure designed by architect Rudy Ricciotti at the gallery's Le Muy property. Navarra engages with figures like gallerist Patrick Seguin, New York dealer Tony Shafrazi, and Château Lacoste owner Paddy McKillen. He emphasizes art's fragility and strength, inspired by his father's ethos of public engagement and joy.
