Dora García's 'Segunda Vez' at Museo Reina Sofía
Dora García's first solo exhibition at the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid, titled 'Segunda Vez', runs until September 3, 2018. The show takes its name from a Julio Cortázar story and a recent series of short films and a feature film about Argentine artist and intellectual Óscar Masotta, a 1960s performance pioneer. The exhibition is structured theatrically, avoiding chronology to emphasize thematic circularity. Works span from the late 1990s to recent productions, distributed across the Sabatini building's third floor, the Protocol Room on the ground floor, and the basement. Notable pieces include '100 Impossible Artworks' (2001), 'The Respiratory Lesson' (2001), 'Exile' (2013)—a collective work-in-progress with contributions from Italian artists Aldo Piromalli, Giulia Girardello, and Mattia Pellegrini—and 'Odradek' (2018), a sound project in the basement based on Kafka's 'The Cares of a Family Man'. Daily performances are coordinated by Michelangelo Miccolis, including 'Instant Narrative' (2006-08), 'The Sinthome Score' (2013/2015), and 'Two Planets'. Miccolis also performs 'The Artist Without a Work' (2009) on weekends. A summer events calendar complements the exhibition.
