Donlyn Lyndon, Sea Ranch architect and educator, dies at 90
Donlyn Lyndon, an architect renowned for his work, passed away at the age of 90 on April 5 in Sea Ranch, California, where he continued to design homes until his final days. Just weeks prior, his wife, artist Alice Wingwall, had died. He was a co-founder of MLTW, alongside Charles Moore, William Turnbull, and Richard Whitaker, and collaborated with Joseph Esherick, Lawrence Halprin, and Barbara Stauffacher Solomon on the Sea Ranch project. Lyndon contributed to nine structures in the community, including Condominium One (1963–64). Born in 1936, he received degrees from Princeton, taught at UC Berkeley, and led architecture programs at the University of Oregon and MIT, co-authoring The Place of Houses (1974) and publishing Boston: A City Observed (1982) before retiring in 2004.
