Don Q Launches Two Bourbon Barrel-Aged Rums for Whiskey Fans
Destilería Serrallés, one of the oldest rum producers in Puerto Rico, has introduced two new offerings under its Don Q label: Reserva and Reserva Especial. Both expressions are matured in former bourbon barrels, showcasing flavors of oak, vanilla, and caramel, which are particularly appealing to whiskey enthusiasts. Reserva consists of a blend aged for a minimum of five years, while Reserva Especial features rums aged between seven and ten years. Established in 1865 by Don Juan Serrallés, who brought a copper pot still from France, the brand was later launched in 1934 by his son, Juan Eugenio Serrallés, named after Don Quixote. The brand expanded by acquiring Puerto Rican Distillers in 1985 and made its U.S. comeback in 2006. The new rums are part of the Serrallés Collection, which also includes cask-finished varieties in wine, sherry, Cognac, vermouth, and port casks. Reserva has a suggested retail price of $22, while Reserva Especial is priced at $40, both available at select retailers and online at ReserveBar. Silvia Santiago, VP of manufacturing, emphasized that these new releases highlight the brand's dedication to quality and innovation.
