Don Nino Mind Food: New Palermo Space Merges Art and Pastry
Francesco Galvagno, collector and patron of Elenka and founder of Don Nino Total Food, has opened Don Nino Mind Food in Palermo, a cultural space blending contemporary art and pastry. Located adjacent to the pastry shop on Via Vincenzo Di Marco, the space is not a gallery but a creative laboratory for dialogue between visual arts and confectionery. Inaugurating the space is 'Mashup,' a solo exhibition by Andrea Buglisi curated by Vito Chiaramonte, featuring painting, design, sculpture, video, and urban art. Buglisi also created a permanent site-specific mural. The exhibition catalog is a cardboard box simulating a music cassette with a QR code, containing a custom chocolate made by the pastry chef. Future shows, including one with Fulvio Di Piazza, will also feature site-specific pastry works. Galvagno plans events combining visual arts and cuisine, collaborating with the nearby MAG – Master Academy Antonino Galvagno.
