cultural-heritage · 2026-04-26

A new entrance to the Domus Aurea in Rome was officially opened on December 13, 2024, in Gallery XXIV of the Neronian portico, marking the completion of safety and conservation efforts. This project includes the reopening of the western section, which features the Sala della Volta Gialla and the Sala della Volta delle Civette. In partnership with the Uffizi Galleries, the sculpture "Ninfa con pantera" will be exhibited until February 9, 2025. Originating from the 1st to 2nd centuries AD, this piece became part of the Medici collections in the mid-16th century and has seen restoration work. Alfonsina Russo, director of the Parco Archeologico del Colosseo, highlighted the initiative's goal to foster cultural engagement while the new entrance revitalizes the Neronian portico with unique flooring and a walkway.
