Dominique Blais: Sound, Light, and Critical Perception

Dominique Blais, born in 1974 in Châteaubriant and currently residing in Paris, has developed a varied artistic portfolio over the last ten years, utilizing music, sound, and light to promote critical engagement with auditory and visual experiences. His earlier creations featured recording instruments, while his artistic endeavors now span sculpture, installation, and video. In 'Sans titre (Melancholia)' (2008-2012), a modified turntable symbolizes the creative potential of destruction. Blais captured ambient sounds during a 2008 residency and recorded VLF radio frequencies in Ny-Ålesund, Norway, showcasing them through low-tech devices. Works like 'Spherics' (2009) and 'Ellipse' (2010) highlight viewer interpretations. His exhibition 'Solaris' (2011) replicated the sun's trajectory, and 'Révolution II' (2011) explored the impact of light. His upcoming project will investigate social aspects within constructed environments.
