Domenico Formichetti on PDF, Streetwear, and His Creative Vision

Domenico Formichetti, born in Chieti in 1993, studied at Accademia di Belle Arti and NABA in Milan, where he entered the city's art and emerging music scene. He worked as a stylist for Italian rap artists including Sfera Ebbasta, Ghali, and Dark Polo Gang. After founding FOMO and Formy Studio, he launched PDF – Project Domenico Formichetti in 2023, debuting at Milan Fashion Week Men's with a collection blending 1990s-2000s nostalgia, extreme sports like snowboarding, and authentic streetwear. His designs feature oversize silhouettes, curved lines, and denim. In an interview, Formichetti cites influences from extreme sports, graffiti, manga, video games, and film, naming directors Jodorowsky, Greenaway, and Tarantino. He emphasizes the strong link between PDF and hip-hop culture, having spent years in recording studios. He sees Milan as foundational but expresses a desire to leave, listing London and New York as next steps. His creative approach remains rooted in street culture and hands-on craftsmanship, which he feels is waning in Italian fashion. He describes his brand as 'Personale, Diabolico, Figo' and himself as 'Diabolico e Figo' and 'Personale' if meaning unique.
