Dolor y Gloria, Bangla, John Wick 3: weekend film releases in Italy

Three major films debut in Italian cinemas from May 17. Pedro Almodóvar's 'Dolor y Gloria', which premiered at Cannes and has already been released in Spain, arrives via Warner Bros. Italia. The film follows aging director Salvador Mallo through recollections of his childhood in 1960s Paterna, first love in 1980s Madrid, and the pain of a broken relationship, exploring artistic creation and the impossibility of separating it from life. 'Bangla', the debut feature by 22-year-old Italian-Bangladeshi filmmaker Phaim Bhuiyan (who also stars), is a romantic comedy about a young Muslim man from Torpignattara, Rome, who works as a museum steward and plays in a band. He falls for Asia (Carlotta Antonelli), his opposite, and must reconcile love with Islamic pre-marital chastity. The film was discovered by Alice nella Città and presented at the Rome Film Festival; it is distributed by Fandango. 'John Wick 3: Parabellum', directed by Chad Stahelski and starring Keanu Reeves, continues the saga as John Wick is on the run with a $14 million bounty after killing a member of the High Table inside the Continental Hotel. The manager grants him one hour before excommunication; he must fight his way out of New York City. Distributed by 01 Distribution.
