Dolomiti: Cicchetti and Bortoluzzi's Photographic and Literary Project

exhibition · 2026-04-26

A project titled 'Dolomiti. Un paesaggio tutelato' combines photography by Manuel Cicchetti and writing by Antonio G. Bortoluzzi to explore the Dolomites as a living landscape. The exhibition, supported by Regione Veneto and published by Marsilio Arte, presents a non-touristic view of the UNESCO World Heritage site. Cicchetti's photographs, taken over a year across nine Dolomite sites, employ a muted color palette reminiscent of 1950s-60s Italian cinema and the work of Luigi Ghirri and Giovanni Chiaromonte. Bortoluzzi's text emphasizes the human connection to the mountains, describing the hands of elderly workers as symbols of endurance. The exhibition is structured around five keywords: Mirabilia, Ascendere, Limite, Persistenza, Segni. It runs from July 10 to August 31 in Cortina d'Ampezzo (Museo Rimoldi, Alexander Hall, Libreria Sovilla, Savoia Hotel), October 3 to November 2 in Belluno (Centro Culturale Crepadona), and November 3 to January 6 in Vittorio Veneto (Sala Civica e Torre dell'Orologio). The book is available from July 25.
