Dolomites Trail Transformed into Open-Air Art Exhibition

The third edition of the art festival Sentieri d'arte has transformed the Pian de ra Spines trail near Fiames in the Dolomites into an open-air exhibition titled 'Il Giardino di Artemide' (The Garden of Artemis). Curated by Fulvio Chimento and Carlotta Minarelli, the exhibition features new site-specific installations by Margherita Morgantin (born 1971, Venice) and Italo Zuffi (born 1969, Imola), alongside two existing works by T-yong Chung (born 1977, Daegu) created during a workshop at the Liceo Artistico di Cortina. The theme draws inspiration from Giovanni Cenacchi's literary guide 'Dolomiti cuore d'Europa' (Hoepli, 2021), which associates the trail with the Greek goddess Artemis. The six permanent installations evoke the goddess through subtle interventions: Morgantin's arrows piercing tree bark, Zuffi's oversized keys and keychains inscribed with 'bosco' (forest), and Chung's golden bowls suggesting offerings. The curators adopted a 'casual discovery' approach, allowing artworks to emerge like apparitions. This year, the festival expands from Veneto to Lombardy with a second exhibition titled 'Polline' in the Valle di Intelvi, featuring works by Simone Berti, Caretto/Spagna, and Jonathan Vivacqua, opening October 9, 2022.
