Documentary 'Venezia. Infinita avanguardia' Celebrates Venice's 1600 Years

A documentary titled 'Venezia. Infinita avanguardia' will screen in Italian cinemas on October 11, 12, and 13, 2021, marking the city's 1600th anniversary. Produced by 3D Produzioni and Nexo Digital with support from Intesa Sanpaolo and special collaboration from Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, the film explores Venice's dual identity as a place of decadent charm and avant-garde energy. It features actor Carlo Cecchi, a master of Italian theater and living memory of the city, alongside Polish pianist Hania Rani, a rising star in the modern classical scene, who seeks inspiration among Venice's museums, alleys, and wonders. Narrated by Lella Costa, the film emphasizes Venice's feminine essence. Additional voices include artists Ai Weiwei and Anselm Kiefer, who share their enchantment with the city. The documentary contrasts perspectives from different generations, united by Venice's magnetic allure, and references Giandomenico Tiepolo's fresco 'Il Mondo Novo' at Ca' Rezzonico as a metaphor for wonder at the world to come.
