Documentary 'The Princess' Marks 25 Years Since Diana's Death

On August 31, Sky Documentaries and NOW will release 'The Princess,' a documentary dedicated to Lady Diana 25 years after her tragic death. Directed by Oscar nominee Ed Perkins ('Black Sheep,' 'Dimmi chi sono'), the film is produced by Lightbox, with Oscar winner Simon Chinn ('Man on Wire,' 'Alla ricerca di Sugar Man') and Emmy winner Jonathan Chinn ('LA92,' 'Tina' for HBO). The documentary traces the relationship between Diana and Charles, Princes of Wales, using exclusively archival audio and video footage to recount key events: their public courtship, fairy-tale wedding, the birth of their two sons, their bitter divorce, and Diana's death on August 31, 1997. Unlike typical documentaries, 'The Princess' unfolds in the present tense, offering an immersive experience that reflects societal concerns, fears, aspirations, and desires of the era. The film premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival and is produced in association with Sky.
