Documentary on Zaha Hadid's architectural legacy released online

On the first anniversary of Zaha Hadid's sudden death from a heart attack in Miami on March 31, 2016, The Architects' Journal made the documentary "Zaha: An Architectural Legacy" available on its YouTube channel. Produced by Laura Mark and directed by Jim Stephenson, the film features interviews and accounts of key projects in Hadid's career, including Rome's MAXXI museum. Contributors include long-time collaborator Patrik Schumacher, architects Eva Jiricna and Nigel Coates, urbanist Ricky Burdett, AJ editor Christine Murray, and engineer Hanif Kara. Since her death, debate over the future of her London-based firm Zaha Hadid Architects has often overshadowed architectural discussions, fueled by Schumacher's statements and internal disagreements, notably a public open letter in November 2016. International tributes to the 2004 Pritzker Prize winner include a posthumous retrospective in Venice by Fondazione Berengo, a major exhibition at the Serpentine Sackler Gallery in London, and the upcoming "Zaha Hadid e l'Italia" at MAXXI Rome starting June 23, 2017.
