Documentary on sculptor Maria Cristina Carlini premieres at MEET Digital Culture Center

A documentary titled "Maria Cristina Carlini. Il coraggio della grandezza" by Pino Farinotti and Tiziano Sossi premiered at MEET Digital Culture Center in Milan. The film explores the life and work of Italian sculptor Maria Cristina Carlini (born 1942 in Varese), known for her works on every continent. It features interviews with critics and curators including Pino Farinetti, Flaminio Gualdoni, Rossella Farinotti, architect Ivan Rizzi, Paola Albini of Fondazione Franco Albini, and Bruto Pomodoro of Archivio Giò Pomodoro, as well as her son Pietro Guidobono Cavalchini. Archive footage shows her studio and works. Carlini discusses her passion for Michelangelo, particularly his Pietà Rondanini, which she calls an obsession. The film also highlights her recent sculpture "Obelisco" (4 meters high, made of recycled wood and corten steel), installed in Piazza Berlinguer in Milan in June 2024, her fourth donation to the city after "La porta della giustizia" (2007), "Vento" (2013), and "La Nuova città che sale" (2014).
