Documentary on Renzo Piano's Monte Rosa 91 Debuts at Milan Design Film Festival

The documentary 'AMOENUS. MR91 – Paradigma di un cantiere' premieres at the 11th edition of the Milano Design Film Festival, directed by Cristiana Perrella. The film, directed by Pietro Leone with Helga Marsala, focuses on the recent renovation of Monte Rosa 91, a complex in Milan's Lotto district originally designed by the Renzo Piano Building Workshop in the early 2000s. Inaugurated in 2004 for the newspaper 'Sole 24 Ore', the building was later abandoned and has been redeveloped by the same architecture firm into an urban campus with offices, cultural spaces, and retail, commissioned by AXA IM Alts. The documentary eschews technical descriptions, instead capturing the faces, sounds, and machinery of the construction site, as well as the diverse community of workers. It features an interview with Renzo Piano conducted by writer Gaia Manzini, alongside reflections from artists Mario Airò, Stefano Arienti, and Loris Cecchini on the relationship between art and architecture. The film also ties into 'Prima Luce', a public art project curated by Helga Marsala, featuring three site-specific works for Monte Rosa 91, set to be unveiled next spring. The film is competing for the AFA–Architecture Film Award, organized with the Fondazione dell'Ordine degli Architetti della Provincia di Milano and partnered with Triennale di Milano. Screening is on March 7 at 9 PM at Anteo Palazzo del Cinema.
