Documentary on Piero Guccione premiered at Rome Film Festival
A documentary film about the late Sicilian painter Piero Guccione (1935–2018), written and directed by Nunzio Massimo Nifosì, was first presented in 2011 at the Rome Film Festival. The film was produced in collaboration with the Italian Pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale, curated by Vittorio Sgarbi. It follows Guccione through a typical day, exploring the landscapes of Sicily—its sea, beaches, and skies—that inspired his work. The painter's own voice narrates the journey, reflecting on his dedication to painting: 'I find myself in the small universe of painting. I like doing it, I do it with passion. I can't do anything else and I don't know how to do anything else. I dedicate my whole life to it, but I also know I am a Don Quixote, using shield and lance in the age of missiles.'
