Documentary on Miyazaki's Latest Film to Premiere in Italy

A documentary titled 'Hayao Miyazaki e l'airone' will be screened in Italian cinemas for three days only: November 25, 26, and 27, 2024. Directed by Kaku Arakawa, the film follows the seven-year production of Hayao Miyazaki's latest work, 'The Boy and the Heron', which was released in Italy on January 1, 2024. The documentary premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival during the honorary Palme d'Or ceremony for Studio Ghibli. It offers exclusive behind-the-scenes access to Studio Ghibli's creative process and highlights Miyazaki's long collaboration with producer Toshio Suzuki. In Italy alone, 'The Boy and the Heron' earned seven million euros and attracted one million viewers. The documentary also explores the artistic references in Miyazaki's film, including nods to artists like Giorgio de Chirico and René Magritte.
