Documentary on Lucio Amelio, the gallerist who brought Warhol to Naples, premieres at Rome Film Fest

At the 18th Rome Film Festival, a documentary titled 'Lucio Amelio' premiered, directed by Nicolangelo Gelormini. The film explores the life of Lucio Amelio, a pivotal figure in the Italian and international art scene, often called the 'true mayor of Naples' by American art critic Alan Jones. Amelio is credited with introducing Andy Warhol to Joseph Beuys in 1980 and organizing the landmark exhibition 'Terrae Motus' in Naples after the 1980 earthquake, bringing together major international artists to respond to the tragedy. The documentary combines interviews and archival footage, produced by Davide Azzolini for Dazzle Communication in collaboration with Archivio Amelio Santamaria, with support from the Italian Ministry of Culture and Campania Region. It will be available on RaiPlay by end of 2023 and air on Sky Arte on July 2, 2024, at 21:15, also streaming on NOW. Gelormini, who also edited the film, previously directed 'Fortuna' (2020) starring Valeria Golino, and has worked on series like 'Il Sequestro Dozier' and 'L'Arte della Gioia'.
