Documentary on Hieronymus Bosch to Screen in Italian Cinemas
A documentary titled 'Bosch. Il giardino dei sogni' (Bosch: The Garden of Dreams), directed by José Luís López Linares, will be released in Italian cinemas on November 7 and 8 as part of the 'La Grande Arte al Cinema' project, distributed by Nexo Digital. The film explores the dual nature of Hieronymus Bosch, who died in August 1516, blending medieval fantastical imagery with Flemish Renaissance innovations. Born in 's-Hertogenbosch in the lands of the Dukes of Burgundy, Bosch came from a family originally from Aachen, seven centuries earlier the seat of Charlemagne's court. The documentary features commentary from artists, writers, philosophers, musicians, and scientists on the personal, historical, and artistic meanings of Bosch's masterpiece 'The Garden of Earthly Delights,' commissioned 500 years ago by the court of the Dukes of Nassau in Brussels. Contributors include writers Salman Rushdie, Orhan Pamuk, and Cees Nooteboom; artist Miquel Barceló; and musician Ludovico Einaudi.
