Documentary on Ettore Sottsass Airs on Sky Arte for Centenary

A documentary titled 'Il treno di Sottsass' directed by Valeria Parisi will air on Sky Arte HD on Thursday, September 14, marking the centenary of Ettore Sottsass's birth. The film draws from interviews conducted over three different periods, featuring Sottsass's own words on his childhood in the mountains, the importance of color, American industrial culture, and the Beat poets he encountered through his first wife Fernanda Pivano. The documentary includes readings of Sottsass's texts by young actors from the Piccolo Teatro di Milano, as well as commentary from friends and colleagues such as Barbara Radice, Michele De Lucchi, Arata Isozaki, Johanna Grawunder, and Christoph Radl. These voices provide a choral narrative offering an authentic and unprecedented portrait of the multidisciplinary designer and architect.
