Documentary on Carlo Mollino to Premiere at Palazzo Monti

exhibition · 2026-04-27

A documentary on the controversial figure of Carlo Mollino, curated by Chiara Crespi, will be presented on Saturday, September 24 at Palazzo Monti, a cultural center in Brescia active since 2017, during the opening of the third edition of the Degree Show. This is the first stage of a larger tribute project culminating in 2023, on the 50th anniversary of Mollino's death, with The Mollino Room, a collateral event of the 18th Venice Architecture Biennale. Using innovative technologies such as holograms, 3D mapping, and laser projections, the space will document Mollino's figure and his lost interiors. The documentary, produced by Basement Headquarter, will be shown again at that occasion, immersing viewers in Mollino's irreverent and charismatic personality through various testimonies and stories. Mollino was an architect, engineer, designer, photographer, and artist, described by Luigi Prestinenza Puglisi as an "incorreggibile ragazzaccio" (incorrigible rascal) who profaned academic cadences with turbulent drawings and blasphemous photographs. His furniture, which anticipated the work of Ron Arad and Zaha Hadid, reaches vertiginous prices at international auctions, exceeding one million euros.
