Documentary 'Il Marsicano. L’ultimo Orso' Premieres on Sky Nature

Sky Nature, the channel dedicated to environment and ecology, premieres its second original production 'Il Marsicano. L’ultimo Orso' on September 24, 2022, available on Sky Nature, NOW, and on-demand. The documentary, produced by Zoofactory and directed by Massimiliano Sbrolla, focuses on the Marsican brown bear, symbol of the Parco Nazionale d’Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise (PNALM), which celebrates its centenary in 2022. The park, established in 1922 alongside the Gran Paradiso National Park, is Italy's oldest and most inhabited protected area, spanning 24 municipalities. The film follows the park's team of technicians, rangers, scientists, and foresters working to protect the critically endangered species (only 60 individuals remain worldwide). It highlights the challenges of scarce human and financial resources, urbanization, and conflicting local attitudes toward wildlife. Through the story of Juan Carrito, a lively bear cub who caused incidents during the lockdown, the documentary explores risks of captivity and human-wildlife proximity, while offering a realistic portrait of Italy's internal areas without sensationalism.
