Documentary Explores Italy's Corporate Museums and Archives

A new documentary, NewMuseum(s), Stories of company archives and museums, directed by Francesca Molteni and produced by Muse Factory of Project, examines the identity and evolution of corporate museums and archives in Italy. The film begins in Ivrea, a UNESCO World Heritage site tied to Adriano Olivetti's vision integrating industry, social welfare, design, and architecture. Alberto Meomartini, President of Museimpresa (the Italian Association of Corporate Archives and Museums) which promoted the project, notes that Ivrea represents a post-war reconstruction centered on beauty and enterprise. The documentary features interviews with museum directors, archivists, historians, communication experts, curators, architects, musicians, artists, and actors, including Stefano Arienti, Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, Marco Montemaggi, Leonardo Sangiorgi, Chris Taft, and architect Cino Zucchi. Actor and director Toni Servillo makes a special appearance. The film explores what defines these institutions today, their values, the digital and non-digital tools needed to engage with contemporaneity, and future challenges. Upcoming public screenings are scheduled for February 15 at Palazzo Te in Mantua at 6 PM, and March 3 in Milan at Auditorium Assolombarda at 7 PM as part of Museocity.
